The B.B. began in Dundonald Elim on 4th November 1981 with 5 boys and a small number of leaders yet to be trained. By 1982 the company had grown to 40 boys and 8 qualified officers who were enrolled at the first enrolment service in march 1982. Since then the company has continued to grow and today is one of the largest company's in the area with almost 100 boys. This is in no small measure down to the commitment and dedication of the captain, officers and helpers. The Captain is Mark Johnston who has been an officer in the Company for a number of years.
The Boys range in age from 5 -18 and enjoyed a full programme of games (football still being the favourite), Bible class, badge work and drill. Other activities include Saturday morning football, outings. Then of course there is the annual display which always takes a lot of time in preparation. Over this last year it have been great to see a good number of the boys come to know Jesus. We thank God for all the time, effort and work the officers take to sow into the lives of these men of tomorrow. Another offshoot of the Boys Brigade is the 4th Old Boys football team. Several of the current officers and helpers with others from both within and without the church compete in the 5th division of the Old Boys football league. |
